A Little About Me

I love Jesus. I’m married to my best friend, Adam (the #hashtagking). I am a mom to two great kids. We are a homeschooling family. I am a thyroid cancer surviver. I have fibromyalgia, which is an autoimmune condition that I battle daily. Some days I feel awesome at the gym and PR, but other days I struggle sleeping or just simply putting my hair up. My God is faithful, and is with me through every step of every day. My prayer is that I can glorify Him, and be content while dealing with fibro.

How I Found CrossFit

In January 2015, I had one of the worst fibro flares. While in bed for 2 or 3 weeks (because I was in such pain), I came to the realization that this wasn’t how I wanted to live my life. It wasn’t fair to me, my hubby, kids, family, and friends. So I decided to change my diet and exercise. I joined the Y, and started practicing yoga and walking on the indoor track. Then, I started taking classes and running, again. I also met a group of ladies to work out with. And when they signed up for races, I signed up for races. In the fall of 2016 I completed the City of Oaks Marathon Relay and the Holly Springs Half. During that time I signed up for my first full marathon (Tobacco Road Marathon). With the support of my Y friends and hubby, I trained hard! I loved the rigors of the long distances, but, unfortunately my body did not. I completed my training while dealing with another fibro flare. Meanwhile, Adam had joined Zeal and was loving it! I came to watch him during the Games. My first CF experience was watching some amazing athletes at Friday Night Lights! Not intimidating at all to watch y’all crush each week! 😉  But, I fell in love. I wanted to do it, though I was a bit nervous. Adam was talking me into it. So, after my marathon on March, I joined Zeal. My first real class was April 3rd.

Why I CrossFit

Man, I just wanna lift heavy stuff…lots of heavy stuff! Ha!! I want to get stronger, leaner, more confident and fit. I want to prove to my kids, others, and most of all, to myself, that I can do this. I want to teach my kids how to persevere through difficult times. I want to beat fibro!
